Another PCL product obtains WRAS approval to BS6920

approuvé -

Polymer Compounders Limited (PCL) has the most extensive range of WRAS approved grade-colour combinations in our industry. And we are proud to add another one: PC410 in natural colour, one of our transparent unpigmented PC-COM™ grades for injection moulding, was approved for use with water up to 85°C. See the certificate here.

WRAS, the Water Regulation Advisory Scheme, tests materials that can be used in contact with water for their effects on water quality. WRAS Material Approval can only be granted to materials which satisfy the requirements of BS 6920:2000 (“Suitability of non-metallic products for use in contact with water intended for human consumption with regard to their effect on the quality of water”) parts 1 and 2, together with part 3 for hot water usage.

Below is the list of our WRAS approved products – all approved for use with water up to 85°C. If you need a copy of their WRAS certificate, don’t hesitate to contact us.

What is a WRAS Material Approval?

A WRAS approval is an easy way to demonstrate that material is of suitable quality and standard and has been tested to demonstrate compliance with BS6920
Any water fitting, which when installed, will carry or receive water from the public mains water supply in the UK, must comply with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations or Scottish Byelaws.  These require that a water fitting should not cause waste, misuse, undue consumption or contamination of the water supply and must be ‘of an appropriate quality and standard’.

WRAS Material Approval: Non-metallic materials & components, such as rubber sheet material & ‘O’ rings, undergo testing only for their effects on water quality.  This type of approval demonstrates that the non-metallic material/component complies with BS6920.
